Users Manual for an LG Split System Air-Conditioner (LST243H-2)

When we moved into our house 5 years ago, the previous owners had installed a LG Split System Air-Conditioner (LST243H-2) but had failed to leave the users manual behind. Through trial and error we eventually discovered the important features (a.k.a how to turn the damned thing on) but there was a whole bunch of modes for which we simply couldn’t fathom. The remote control had very little text, and more hieroglyphics than an Egyptian Tomb. It never occurred to me before to Google the model number until today.

Sure enough, I found a PDF version of the users manual for a LG LST243H-2. Woot!

  1. Hi there.
I just want to say thank you so much for uploading the manual for air conditioner. We have been freezing and now can finally warm up.

  2. Happy to find your site! I am having a 1.5ton, LG Split, LSA5CG2VF5, bought fresh 1&1/2 yrs ago, but owner’s manual was not available when the piece was opened afresh! We are handling the remote only with our commonsense! But, still can’t find out how I can stop the fan to make it completely silent(I have 2 Onida splits, 0.8 & 1 tons, in other rooms, which do have this provision). Going to LG website, I couldn’t search for a manual. How can I get one? Thanx!

  3. I have an older model which seems to be that much older that I can’t find the manual for it! It’s the LST180C-2. Thank you so much for uploading this as it is very similar to my own – it has all the features of mine plus some.

    Very helpful, thanks again. ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Thanks a lot for making it happen finally..!! I was also wondering to set the mode of the ac to hot .. Specially your remarks (Egyptian Tomb) about the Remote of this AC are so true..

    Cheers..

  5. A really big thank you for posting this manual. It’s 35 degrees here today and I want to make the best of our aircon but same as you, we inherited the unit without the manual from the previous owner. Appreciate the effort.

      • I travel a lot, and these things are all over Asia, Europe, and South America. They’re not common in the U.S., American window-mounted air conditioning units in the U.S. typically have two controls: fan speed and temperature setting, and central a/c units (which are usually paired with a heater of some kind, either a heat pump, natural gas, or oil) have three controls: mode (heat vs. a/c), fan (continuous or auto), and temperature.

Every time I encounter one in my overseas travels, I attempt to decipher the (I love your term for it) hieroglyphics of all of the icons. Now, I’m a pretty tech-savvy guy and can usually figure things like this out, but I inevitably fail here. Changing the fan speeds and turning the a/c itself on (the snowflake icon) is pretty straightforward, and I can usually (after some trial and error) figure out how to adjust the louvers (American spelling :p), but the remainder of the icons were always a mystery to me. And I could never figure out why “Auto” mode didn’t let me set a temperature–wouldn’t you think “Auto” would let you set your desired temperature and then it would automatically switch between heat and cool to maintain it?

This manual explained it all (including the silly “Auto” mode that doesn’t switch between heat and cooling). Talk about an over-engineered, over-complicated product, though. If you and I (as fellow geeks) had issues figuring it out, imagine the terror the rest of the population feels when encountering one of these things…

  6. thanks for the manual..i was really struggling with it with the hieroglyphics remote…even i used to think the same about the remote and no manual left me freezing on most days…

  7. I almost never leave comments, but i did
a few searching and wound up here Users Manual for an LG Split System Air-Conditioner (LST243H-2).
And I actually do have 2 questions for you if
it’s allright. Could it be just me or does it appear like a few of the comments come across as if they
are written by brain dead individuals? ๐Ÿ˜› And, if you
are posting on additional places, I’d like to follow anything fresh you have to post.

  9. Hi I just wanted to say a big thanks for uploading and sharing this manual. We had the same model, we never used very much for heating over the years and didn’t think much about reading the manual… hye press the button and it comes on right? ..mmm this time, instead of heater, the air con comes on this winter… I went looking for my manual and just didn’t know where I misplaced it! Thanks to you and this manual, I finally manage to get heating on for this winter. …mmm couzy! Thanks to you!

  10. Hi there! I just wish to give a huge thumbs up for the great info you could have here on this post. I can be coming again to your blog for more soon.

  11. My L. G AC remote is showing only one digit for temperature like for 22 degree celsius it is showing 2 degree celsius.

  12. Thank you for making this manual available, still.
My aircon unit LST244H-2 is still cranking after all this time with nice icy air.
Just needed to work out how to change the bloody time on the remote!!
    All good now thanks.

  13. Is a manual still available for model LSK243H ?
I have had to repllace the remote with a Universal one which makes it even harder to understand the symbols.

  14. Thankyou! 21 years after installation and it’s still going strong. Even LG don’t have a link to this unit. Qld Australia.
